Medical Weight Loss

Medical Weight Loss

I recently went to Toronto and did another course with Dr Neil Rouzier, an expert in hormone therapy.  Dr Rouzier was hard fast on correcting insulin resistance and encouraged weight loss medication in those who need it, along with hormone therapy. So many patients become insulin resistant as they get older and it becomes impossible to lose weight.

I do my best to keep the price of hormone therapy reasonable for the public, and here I am now wanting to make weight loss just as easy.  I do not think charging a patient thousands of dollars to obtain a weight loss medication is appropriate, especially if lab work shows they are insulin resistant or they have a BMI (body mass index) that is not within normal limits.  A patient can diet and exercise all they want but if the thyroid is not optimal, their hormones are not balanced, and they have insulin resistance, weight loss goals will be next to impossible.

So what medications are out there for weight loss over and above balancing hormones?

The main weight loss medications I consider are Metformin, Orlistat, Phentermine, Naltrexone/Bupropion, Saxenda, and Wegovy (Ozempic).  Not all weight loss medications are covered under insurance, so you may have out-of-pocket expenses.

If medical weight loss is something you are interested in, give the clinic a call.  The first appointment fee is $350, and every 3 months, follow-up fees are $175.
